From critique to catalyst: How academic entrepreneurs transform negative feedback into pivots and performance

Analyzing 316 academic-led teams using the Lean Startup method, the researchers found that when the core of the business idea was criticized, entrepreneurs responded with significant, productive changes. In contrast, critiques of the idea’s periphery resulted in little change. The lesson for founders and their mentors: cultivate resilience by focusing critique on what matters most – the core.
